vsftpd is an FTP server for unix-like systems that is specially built to be efficient and very secure (very secure FTP daemon).
You can install a ftp server like vsftpd, it's configuration is in vsftpd.conf, the text file is explanatory
It directs vsftpd to run in standalone mode
It directs vsftpd to run in standalone mode
There are many FTP server packages in Linux, each with different configuration files and syntaxes. A single question trying to answer how to configure them all would be long and unwieldly, and would duplicate information found in a question about a single implementation. Please ask a question about a single implementation, such as vsftpd or tftpd, instead.
vsftpd, which stands for "Very Secure FTP Daemon"[1], is an FTP server for Unix-like systems, including Linux. It is licensed under the GNU General Public License. It supports IPv6 and SSL.vsftpd supports explicit (since 2.0.0) and implicit (since 2.1.0) FTPS.
Setting /etc/vsftpd/ftpusers lists users, one per line, who are never allowed to log in on the FTP server, regardless of how userlist_enable is set and regardless of the users listed in the user_list file.
You need to set the listen parameter to YES in the vsftpd.conf file
I'm trying to go about on editing the vsftpd file so an account on my system, ftpadmin, should be the only regular user with access, including read and write access. But all other access should be anonymous and read-only. Any help to go about this would be greatly appreciated!
server
Nope a server does
It varies from distribution to distribution, for example in ubuntu you would do one of these: sudo apt-get install ftpd sudo apt-get install pure-ftpd sudo apt-get install vsftpd
