That is a medal tray that is bolted to the main caps on the bottom of the engine that is designed to keep the engine oil from splashing up in the engine and stop the oil pump pick-up tube from sucking air instead of oil. It also stops the engine oil from foaming in the oil pan due to splashing.
That's called a windage tray.
none unless u plan on taking corners like a nascar car, a windage tray keeps oil near the bottom near the pump during hard turns where g forces push oil up the sides unless you drive your suburban around every corner over 45mph i wouldn't worry about it
In this context, 'wind', in 'windage', is pronounced as 'wind' -as in 'breeze' or 'gale'. 'Windage means air-resistance, and this only applies to rotating machines, such as generators and motors, whose rotors have to overcome air-resistance (windage) as they rotate. As transformers have no moving parts, they are NOT subject to windage loss!
Windage loss is essentially frictional losses acting on rotating members due to air resistance.
Friction losses due to airCommentIt's worth pointing out that the windage is pronounced 'wind-age' (i.e. 'wind' as in breeze, not 'wind' as in coil!), and not 'winde-age'.
Pre 89, 5. 89, and newer, 6. All the high performance motors used a windage tray systerm, and pan, that took 6, as well.
Elevation will be the one that moves it up and down. Windage will be the one that moves it from side to side.
By drifting the front sight
gravity - velocity - windage - obstructions
On the bottom of the windage / elevation housing.
Trays is the plural of tray.
An egg tray is a tray with eggs on it. In my opinion, deviled eggs would be best on an egg tray. This is what an egg tray is, for all those weird people out there.
