Type your answer here... the active immunity antibodies is created by what?
active immunity is the immunity that is stimulated internally as a a result of antibodies entering the body. Passive is stimulated by substances from an external source
Active immunity is generated by your body. So you get active immunity as a result of infections or due to vaccines. Passive immunity is not generated by your body. Here the antibodies are to be supplied. Child gets the antibodies from mother. Alternately you get the antibodies via injections. The effect of active immunity is long lasting. The effect of passive immunity is short lived. So the active immunity is considered as better. The passive immunity has one advantage. It is available with immediate effect, while it takes about two to three weeks, before the effects of active immunity is available.
Active Immunity
the immunity that results from the production of antibodies by the immune system in response to the presence of an antigen.
the immunity that results from the production of antibodies by the immune system in response to the presence of an antigen.
Producing your own antibodies is Active Immunity because you are self acquiring the immunity. When immunity is passed from one person to another, such as from a mother her baby, it is called Passive Immunity.
Active immunity occurs when an individual is exposed to the disease causing organism, and the immune system produces antibodies to counteract the disease. Future exposure to the same pathogens will stimulate a rapid response from the immune system to produce antibodies. Passive immunity occurs when an individual receives antibodies instead of inducing the immune system to produce antibodies.
Immunity.Depending on how an organism becomes immune to an INFECTIOUS disease, classifies the immunity into :Active/ PassiveNatural/ ArtificialActive immunity- the organism produced its own antibodies to the disease.Passive immunity- the organism was given antibodies to fight the disease (this type does not last.. so that if the organism is re-infected with the SAME disease...it is not resistant like previously)Natural immunity- the organism naturally was infected to develop active immunity or given antibodies (from mother's milk).Artificial- the organism was deliberately infected to develop active immunity or given extracted antibodies (probably produced from rat's spleen).
Producing antibodies in response to a vaccination
If a person's immune system is producing antibodies against a specific antigen, then that person has a positive or active immunity toward that antigen. If a person has merely been injected with antibodies but does not produce them, that is a passive immunity.
A person acquires active immunity when their own immune system produces antibodies in response to the presence of a pathogen. Active immunity can result from either getting the disease or being vaccinated.
Passive immunity involves the bodies defenses which do not change for different types of microbes. This would be like Natural Killer B cells which attack a wide variety of microbes. Active immunity involves your body becoming acclimated toward a bacteria or virus, such that future contact will spur on a triggered response. An example of this would be the production of antibodies.
