Best Answer

Air viscosity means that the air is thicker than normal. When the air is thick like this, it can cause breathing problems for people with Asthma and other lung conditions.

What is viscosity and how does it effect marine mammals on the water?

Viscosity is the resistance of a liquid (or any kind of matter) to flow. Honey has a very high viscosity, while water has a very low viscosity. However, water's viscosity is still about 30 times higher than that of air, so a marine mammal's speed is slowed down by the fact that it travels through water, not air. Also, water has about the same density (higher density corresponds to higher viscosity and vice versa) as a marine mammal's body, so a marine mammal could exert almost no energy and stay at about the same depth in the water.

What is difference between leak down test with water or air?

Water, with surface tension and higher viscosity than air, will not show the smallest leaks air will show. For very sensitive testing, helium is also used. What is the difference between viscosity and viscosity index?

Viscosity is resistance to flow of oil Viscosity Index is a scale to measure viscosity

Does air temperature affect air resistance?

There are two factors that influence air resistance with temperature. Air density decreases with temperature so that the force needed to push the air out of the way is decreased, thereby decreasing resistance. Conversely, air viscosity increases with temperature (unlike oil for example where viscosity decreases with temperature) so that the drag increases. Under normal conditions, the density change of air has the greatest effect and air resistance decreases at higher temperatures.

Does soda have a low viscosity?

The viscosity is similar to the viscosity of water.

What is the slowing down of an object by a liquid or by air?

This is known as the viscous drag on the movement of the body due to viscosity of the fluid.
