The cabin of the lift is raised (and lowered) by a pulley. The pulley has a counterweight, which weighs as much as an empty cabin. Therefore, the wheel at the top of pulley does not need to lift the entire weight of the cabin - just the extra load in the cabin.
The foundation of a building may fain in shear or due to excessive settlement. if the load on the foundation is more than the bearing capacity of soil or the settlement due to the load is more than tne allowable limit than the foundation is said to fail.
More information is needed: Is this a 2" x 6" 10 feet in length? Is this for a floor, deck, roof or what? Is this supported on both ends or cantilevered? Is this for interior or exterior?

According to SAE, the allowable injury assessment value (ie max femur load) is 2250 lbs.
The maximum safe femur load, according to SAE is the allowable injury assessment value. The maximum femur load is 2250 lbs.
structure, ultimately all types of load go to structure like lift load, cabin pressurization load, aircraft maneuvering load etc.

Because the voltage is fixed (within allowable limits) whereas the current varies according to load.

Presumably the current it is rated at, i.e. 20 amps.
