The screw socket into which an ordinary light bulb is inserted.
The hot screw on a Porcelain socket or and electrical is the Gold screw. The Silver screw is the neutral
In a household circuit, with a "hot" conductor insulated black and a white neutral, the black wire should connect to the center terminal of the socket. The outside part of the socket usually has a brass screw (for the black wire) and a nickel screw (for the white wire).
The hot wire's cover is smooth and connected to what I call the "button" at the bottom of the socket. The neutral wire's cover has ridges and is connected to the screw shell of the socket.
The screw size is a 6-32. This relates to diameter size of #6 and 32 threads per inch. The length for receptacles is usually 3/4 of an inch.

The standard sizes of the Edison screw are T8 (25mm) and the larger T12 (38mm).
An Allen screw is a screw whose head has a hexagonal socket.

An E26 bulb socket is also referred to as an Edison medium screw in base lamp holder. These are the everyday size lamp bases that are used in North American homes. The bases larger that this are called mogul base and one smaller that the E26 is candelabra.
Maybe no difference, you can get the same bulb in different fittings, e.g. Edison-screw, Bayonet, Small Edison screw, miniature bayonet.
On an Edison screw (ES or SES) it is in the bottom of the socket not the sides where the lamp screws in that is the neutral connection. On a bayonet catch (BC or SBC) it is either of the two pins, the other being neutral.
It is not always a screw, but when it is, then just so that it can be attached in the socket of the lamp.
the VLIF socket is used to make use of the set screw to lock the CPU into place.
