What is an Enderman?

Not terribly. Just make sure you have iron or diamond sword and iron or diamond armor. Don't fight them on hard. If on normal or easy, they dont a ton of damage but they take some hits to defeat. With no armor, the do about 3 or 4 hearts so have armor. ALso dump water or use a bow.

Endermen pick up certain blocks and move them around. If you look at them, they will turn to stare back, and then attack once you look away. They teleport close to the player and strike, and will keep teleporting around until killed. They can drop an Ender Pearl which can be crafted into an Eye of Ender so that you can access The End.

Enderman grab random blocks. If you stare at them for too long, they will start attacking. It can be difficult to kill one, as they teleport away when struck for a short amount of time. Just pay attention to your surroundings and you should eventually kill it, and maybe even gain an Ender Pearl for your efforts.
