I used to be an Over The Road company driver, pulling 53 foot dry vans. I worked for 33 cents a mile, which should have worked out to be about $33,000 per year. But in reality, I had more "down time" than I expected (weather, mechanical problems, and usually just that the dispatcher had to scrounge around for a load going out of the same city I'd just unloaded in). So I didn't run the 100,000 miles per year I'd hoped, but it was close. Now, in 2009, I think company drivers get paid 40 cents a mile. Maybe 45. So I'd say you can earn $35K to $45K per year as a company driver, using THEIR truck. If you lease or buy your own rig, you'll get more than twice the per-mile-rate but you'll have much more expenses and responsibilities to worry about. If you pull doubles, triples, tankers, or flatbed trailers, or refrigerated trailers, you might earn a little more than those who pull dry vans.

OTR can stand for many things but in truck driving lingo the term "OTR" stands for Over The Road. This means that the driver hauls loads long distance.
Yes. You fill out the money order the same way you would for anything else. Instead of addressing it to a company such as: Gas co, Brooks Rentals etc. You place the persons first & last name. Usually, acceptable throughout the United States. Scil OTR Truck Driver
