alcoholics just get down right hammered

alcoholics get hammered

A joke from forty years ago reads, " The drunk HAS to drink, the lush loves what he's doing." Social drinking is done on an occasional basis and, while the drinker might get inebriated, he does not display this behavior consistently...say on a daily basis. This drinker most often does not realize that he has consumed too much because he is engaged in convivial conversation and pleasant conversation. The drink in his hand is only an adjutant to his social behavior, not a necessity.

Alcoholism is a serious, debilitating, and expensive addiction. It affects not only the user, but all those around him. The addiction becomes a daily occurrence, frequently with with hidden consumption and behavior.

An example is the person on whom you smell alcohol yet he behaves perfectly normal. This person has become addicted to the alcohol and his body has adapted to the effects to the point that he must drink to "be normal". In order to "get his fix", this person will resort to such lengths as drinking mouthwash or vanilla extract as a substitute for the alcohol he craves.

In these severe cases, medical intervention might be necessary. The problems associated with it are legion, including DTs and family abuse. Should you suspect such an addiction, the support personnel at Alcoholic Anonymous can help. Never hide the problem because there are many programs out there to help the alcoholic.

My father was an alcoholic. It killed him. He died of a necrotic liver. I think the difference depends on the productivity one produces in the work place as a wage slave. If your productivity is considered high. Then, you're a social drinker. If your productivity is unsatisfactory. Then, you're an alcoholic. I'm sure this is why prohibition came about. To, increase the productivity of wage slaves.

An alcoholic 'needs' the drink, it is very difficult to stop drinking and in order to stop they will usually have to check into a rehab. Alcoholics usually have an 'addictive personality' and you never know until you try it, what type of reaction you will have to it. Someone who occasionally drinks does not rely on it at all and the person would easily be able to stop drinking it all together.

they differ because a social drinker drinks with friends perhaps out at dinner or such. They dont take it to an extreme. Alcoholics NEED alcohol, they drink all of the time. At times they drink alone, they dont drink it socially at all. they differ because a social drinker drinks with friends perhaps out at dinner or such. They dont take it to an extreme.
