An alginic acid is a gum extracted from certain seaweeds which is used as a food additive.
An algin is any of a variety of gelatinous gums which are derivatives of alginic acid, and derived from algae.
Alginic acid is from kelp and it is a natural carbohydrate. It is found in some processed food. It will make a foamy barrier that will cover the lining of the stomach when mixed with certain chemicals. This form of alginic acid is found in certain antacids like Gaviscon. This special form is not digestible.
Gaviscon contain alginic acid which is made from seaweed

The scientific term is that it is a macromolecule of alginic acid & its sodium salts. The basic moiety is sodium-polymannuronate. Aginate or alginic acid is a carbohydrate from a kelp. This is used to thicken ice cream, jellies, salad dressings and even toothpaste.
It's thickener derived from seaweed, thought to be safe in small quantities. They probably thought E400 sounded better than alginic acid.
Alginic Acids
From www.fao.org/ag/agn/jecfa-additives/specs/Monograph1/Additive-360.pdf Propylene glycol alginate is an ester of alginic acid in which some of the carboxyl groups are esterified with propylene glycol, some neutralized with an appropriate alkali and some remain free.
It is Soma, a muscle relaxant. Chemically, carisoprodol is N-isopropyl-2-methyl-2-propyl-1,3propanediol dicarbamate and the molecular formula is C12H24N2O4, with a molecular weight of 260.33. Other ingredients in the SOMA drug product include alginic acid, magnesium stearate, potassium sorbate, starch, and tribasic calcium phosphate
Sulfuric acid, Hydrochloric acid, Nitric acid, Phosphoric Acid
Some examples that would be considered an acid: sulfuric acid, nitric acid, hydrofluoric acid, perchloric acid, boric acid, periodic acid, salicilic acid, stearic acid, citric acid, oxalic acid, etc.
