What is an allusion to Peter's Denial?

Peter denies Jesus three times in Mark 14:66-72a, just as Jesus had prophesied he would, and this passage is copied fairly closely in Matthew 26:69-75a, Luke 22:55-61 and John chapter 18.

We must look at the parallel structure that comprises the Gospel of Mark to fully appreciate the literary allusions that surround this simple act of self-preservation. A parallel structure is an ancient literary technique that creates emphasis and develops themes not otherwise apparent. Major events of the framework structure (with explanation following):

A . John explains the coming of Jesus (Mark 1:1-8)

B .The baptism of Jesus (1:9)

C . The voice of God from heaven, "Thou art my beloved son" (1:11)

D . The forty days in the wilderness as an allusion to Elijah and Moses (1:13)

E . The people were astonished at what Jesus taught (1:22)

Peter's denial of Jesus is labelled event T' so that we can see an allusion to it back in event T (verse 8:29), where Peter is the disciple who says that Jesus is the Messiah; his later denial, thrice repeated, negates this. After Peter's denial, he thought on it and wept. This is labelled event U' and there is another allusion to this back in event U, where Jesus said, "Whosoever shall be ashamed of me: of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed." No wonder Peter wept!

Events T and U are joined by another literary device known as a chiastic structure, a circular sequence similar to a parallel structure, but with the second set in reverse order:
a.T Peter affirms that Jesus is the Messiah

b Jesus refers to his death and resurrection

c Peter rebukes Jesus

c' Jesus rebukes Peter

b' Jesus refers to death, the cross and life after death

a'.U "Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me ..." This is a reversal of Peter's affirmation, but also an allusion to Peter's denials.
