Something similar happened to me. My own insurance company was actually going to just pay the other person's insurance company since they had decided I was "at fault". I wrote a letter that I was not in agreement with this and stated my reasons why I was not at fault. It went into arbitration by a third party and I was determined to be NOT at fault. I believe you have to contact your company, also check the wording of your policy for how to handle disputes. No. The billing codes for medical and dental are completely separate. Dental codes beginning with the letter D and are followed by 4 or more numbers. eg. D1110 for an adult prophy/cleaning Dentists are only allowed to bill for dental treatment with dental codes and not allowed to use medical codes. Billing with a medical code while performing a dental procedure for which a dental code exists is considered insurance fraud and punishable by law.
