Avidin is a protein found in raw egg whites and it binds Biotin preventing its absorption. Symptoms of deficiency are hair loss, scaly red rash at the nose, mouth and genitalia. Depression, lethargy and numbness of the extremities. Biotin is not known to be toxic and doses up to 200 mg/day are well tolerated. As non of the current drugs used to control crohns disease are known to be contra indicated with usage of Biotin you should be OK. As always, speak with your crohns management team to verify this advise.
