Invention patented by Hubert Kuo and I-Ming Lin on March 17th, 2003. Abstract: An embedded control unit is installed in a notebook computer, so as to take the place of the programmable processor in many conventional notebook computers for controlling peripheral devices. The embedded control unit includes a plurality of peripheral controllers, so as to control the peripheral devices usually used by typical notebook computers. The peripheral controllers can be directly connected to the peripheral devices, according to the specifications for different types and/or brands of notebook computers. In addition, the peripheral controllers can achieve control of the peripheral devices according to the non-adjustable internal register settings. In this way, the control of the peripheral devices can be achieved without using firmware, thereby simplifying the notebook computer development process and reducing the development cost.
An embedded controller is a type of computer microcontroller. It is used for handling multiple tasks that the operating system is unable to.
It is a micro controller used in various applications of embedded systems

The Wii 2 or Wii U will have a new controller with a touch screen embedded in it. It will also be more powerful and able to run at High Definition.
In real time embedded software there is a term called BIT - "Built In Test". Its a routine done by the embedded system which checks the "real time" components of the system. For example, a sensor controller will occasionally check its connection with the sensors, a cell phone does a battery check and so on.

# A specialized computer system that is part of a larger system or machine. Typically, an embedded system is housed on a single microprocessor boardprograms stored in ROM. Virtually all appliances that have a digital interface -- watches, microwaves, VCRs, cars -- utilize embedded systems. Some embedded systems include an operating system, but many are so specialized that the entire logic can be implemented as a single program. # Embedded System is: specified purpose controller which is embedded as part of larger system. An embedded system has historically been defined as a single function product where the intelligence is embedded in the system. It could be anything from a dishwasher to a hearing aid, if that product includes a microprocessor and software. Many of today's embedded systems are looking more like PCs with user interfaces, touchscreens, displays, keypads and more. Still, these are not general function systems but are designed to perform very specific functions.

The stick was embedded in the rock. The answer is embedded in his message.
That's a computer programming question. The micro-controller should be constantly running in a loop, and you should be able to program the application to respond to the event whenever the input is detected. Naturally, you will need to have a copy of the original source code and a compiler that will work with the specific micro-controller.
