Once a main sequence star consumes the last of it's hydrogen, the loss of energy generation causes gravitational collapse. For stars with less than about 0.2 solar masses, they could become white dwarfs once nuclear fusion ceases. For stars above this threshold the hydrogen surrounding the helium core reaches sufficient temperature and pressure to undergo fusion, forming a hydrogen burning shell. Because of this change, the outer envelope of the star expands and decreases in temperature, turning it into a red giant. At this point the star has evolved off the main sequence and is entering the giant branch. The path the star now follows across the HR diagram, to the upper right of the main sequence, is called an evolutionary track. [See Link}

Is tracks a proper noun or a common noun?

The noun 'tracks' is a common noun, the plural form of the noun 'track'; a general word for marks left by a moving person, animal, or vehicle; a general word for paths or trails formed by the foot traffic people or animals; a general word for metal rails that a train, trolley, or subway car rides along; a general word for prepared courses for racing; a general word for the metal bands around the wheels of a heavy vehicle; a word for any tracks of any kind.A proper noun is the name or title of a specific person, place, or thing; for example, Tracks USA (snowmobile dealer) in Lake Lillian MN or "The Tracks of My Tears", a Smokey Robinson song.The word 'tracks' is also the third person, singular of the verb to track.

How far apart should the tracks be for double track n scale?

The standard spacing for double track in N scale is approximately 1.25 inches (31.8mm) between the centerlines of the tracks. However, this can vary depending on the specific model and prototype being represented. It's always a good idea to refer to prototype specifications or recommended guidelines from the manufacturer for more accurate measurements.

Why can a train not run on flooded tracks?

The engineer can't see if the tracks are washed out. But, even if it is very shallow and he can see the tracks, the steel wheels will have little traction on the steel track when they are wet. Also, the electric traction motors on diesel and electric locomotives would short out and destory themselves if they were flooded with water, making the train powerless to move. Steam locomotives could go into flooded water up to the bottom of their firebox, but why take the chance with such pricey equipment.

If you fall into a train track would you have to touch both the rails to be electrocuted?

It is generally unsafe to be too close to railroad tracks except at marked crossings and with your full attention for oncoming trains. Do not play around train tracks at all. Standard train tracks do not carry significant power, you would not get electrocuted if you touch either or both rails. A subway train however would fry you promptly. Such was the fate of Mister Green in 'The Taking of Pelham 123.'
