Depending on what they did, no electronics for a few days. If its something big like they stole something then they arent allowed to leave the house except for school and if they're more than a few minutes late home then keep them in their rooms for the rest of the night.

Can punishment reform a child?

Directly not. Appropriate punishment may teach the child to obey rules, to be civilised; the child in question may be taught to think.+ Inappropriate punishment will do just the opposite.+ Also, REWARD for a good deed is also important, because punishment for a bad deed is only repressive education, reward for good is supportive education.+ Children need love, care and support, both material AND moral. (some rules they can rely on)

Why is punishment not effective tool of correcting the behavior of employees at the workplace?

Punishment may create negative emotions, fear, and resentment among employees, leading to decreased morale and motivation. It may not address the root cause of the behavior and can result in employees becoming more focused on avoiding punishment rather than understanding the desired behavior. Positive reinforcement and constructive feedback are often more effective in promoting long-term behavioral change in the workplace.

Punishment in child rearing?

Punishment in child rearing involves using consequences to discourage undesirable behavior. While it can be effective in the short term, positive discipline techniques like setting clear expectations, providing positive reinforcement, and teaching appropriate behaviors are more beneficial in promoting long-term behavioral change and healthy development in children. It's important to avoid using harsh or physical punishment, as it can have negative effects on a child's well-being and relationship with their caregivers.

When is it appropriate to give your kid a birthday spanking?

A birthday spanking (something done as a joke on a child's birthday) is only really appropriate up to the age at which parents would cease smacking their children as punishment, ie probably 5-6 years old. An older child who consents to such treatment most likely has some kind of dependency issues.
