You can't use nouns to describe things. You can use "nice" to describe nouns though as it is an adjective.E.G. That car looks nice
In my opinion i would describe the texture of a hedgehog as very spiky and rough. The reason why i would describe it as that is because of how it feels and how it looks from the outside.

It is just an expression to refer to an elderly person as a fossil. People don't actually look like a fossil...even though there are tons of fossils, it would still be hard to find one that looks like a human! A similar expression is to refer to a technically backward person as a dinosaur.
That looks like the description of an EXPRESSION. However, an expression need not have "at least one operation"; a single number, or variable, is a perfectly valid expression.
