Pin holiday camera light travels in straight lines
It literally takes long-exposure photos through a pinhole that projects an inverted image into a darkened box.
I think a pinhole camera is similar to the human eye because like the pinhole camera when it sees something it reflects the image but it is an inverted image. With the human eye the brain corrects it and turns it the right way up. The pinhole cameras image is not corrected because it does not have a lens.
In a simple microscope, a lens magnifies the image of the sample. in a compound microscope, the objective lens magnifies the image (there may be more than one objective lens) and the eyepiece lens enlarges the virtual image (which is typically inverted by the objective lens).
The lens is convex (curved outward). Light entering the lens from the outside is refracted (bent) as it travels through it. This brings the image to a single (focal) point. The distance between the lens and the back of the camera is such that it allows a small image of the photographed scene to be visible (the picture). The image is inverted because of the refraction of light through the lens.
we do get inverted image at the ratina. But this inverted image itself is being treated as errected by our mind.

Whenever a real image is formed by a real object,the image is always inverted. for eg when light rays from infinity falls on convex lens it forms a real and inverted image at focal plane.
The image is inverted when it reaches the retina. The brain then interperets the image as right-side-up.

A real image is one that you can actually see if you put some smoke or a tissue at the place where the real image is. If there's film there, you catch a photo. You can't do any of those things with the image in a mirror. An inverted image is one that's upside down. An inverted image of a standing person has his feet on top and his head on the bottom of the image. I'm pretty sure a real image is always inverted.
If the image is upside up view of the given object than it is called Inverted Image. If it remains as the object than it is called Erect Image
