This a small enclosed structure located out of doors. It has a deep hole dug into the ground and [typically] a wooden seat with a hole in the middle located above the hole. A person sits on the seat, and when finished, could sprinkle a scoop of lime into the hole to assist in breaking down solid material and controlling bad smell. In the U.S., a half moon is traditionally carved on the door to an outhouse.
Outhouse by far.
Privy or outdoor toilet.
Porta potty for a chemical toilet or Outhouse for a pit toilet.
one step up from an outhouse, no flush
An outhouse is a building that contains a toilet, but is not attached to the main building. Other names for an "outhouse" are: outbuilding, outdoor toilet, john, johnny house, netty, privy, thunderbox, kybo, dunny, biffy, jakes, or earth closet.
A biffy is a term used in the United States for a toilet or an outhouse.
The toilet is what uses the most water in the US. This is because whenever you flush your toilet it can use up to 10 gallons of water, if not more. Unless you have an outhouse because you can't really flush the water down in an outhouse.
A portable toilet is a modern, portable, self-contained outhouse manufactured of molded plastic in a variety of colors and is often used as a temporary toilet for construction sites and large gatherings and events.
The White House had waterclosets with toilets during Lincoln's time there. Though he likely had a chamber pot as well.
The Outhouse was created in 2003.
How about a composting toilet? I have a SunMar NE and it is not bad at all.
Simply disassemble the stoop and remove the toilet seat. Once the hole is maximally exposed use a post-hole digger to capture and remove the contents of the pit. Transfer the contents to your compost or bury away from water tables and neighbor's house. Replace stoop and toilet seat cover. Use mask or filter over nose and mouth. I did not have the option of moving the outhouse structure.
