archive.pst is a Microsoft Outlook Data File. It is use with the auto archive feature and contains mail that is older than a certain date.
Close outlook completely. Navigation to the location of the PST file in your directory. Create a new folder called archive. Copy and Paste your existing PST file into the Archive folder. Navigate to the Archive folder. Rename the PST file to something that will allow you to remember when this backup was created, (ie, PSTArchive09JUN.pst)
Use the File Archive... feature to archive from the old, existing, PST file, to a new, empty, PST file that you've created.Set the archive "Archive Items Older Than" setting to be a very old date, like before your oldest email in the original archive -- but not too old, or it can take a long time to process.Click OK to start the archiving. This will copy the current folder structure of the old archive to the new one, but no emails will copy.Briany@voicenet.com
Windows Outlook can get nit-picky with uploading/importing large Pst files. Even if someone is able to import a big Pst file, the contents can be really sloppy, with issues like empty inbox, empty emails, loss of headers, etc. You obviously had a big database in Mac Outlook since you used it for 5 years. This means that the Olm file was big, and thus, the converted Pst file was also big. What you can do is try to export parts of your Mac Outlook data to separate Olm files, and convert each Olm file to one Pst file individually. This way you can get smaller Pst files. As can be plainly seen, this might take a bit longer. Other, better, approach is to use "Olm to Pst converter Pro". It's a Mac utility that does what the name implies - converts Olm to Pst file. The way it deals with large Pst file issues is by splitting them into smaller files. This means that you will still have more than one Pst file to import to Windows Outlook, but don't need to archive data to multiple Olm files. This is much simpler and quicker way to not let Pst files get oversized.

There are many utilities on the Internet that can accomplish this, some of which are "free" but limited in how much they will convert. To insure that your entire email archive is converted, you will probably want to purchase one of the conversion tools.
