last time i checked, cancer was NOT contagious. it is hereditary. That is correct. Cancer is not contagious, it is believed to be hereditary is some instances, but some instances it is caused by a teratogen. That is an outside irritant like smoking or asbestos.
see a doctor, radiotherapy, other stuff like that.

The fibres of asbestos can become small enough to enter the Alveoli of the lungs, once there the bodies defenses try to dissolve them with enzymes (acid). Asbestos is however acid resistant, the fibres are too long to be engulfed by the Macrophage (white blood cell), this results in the enzyme leaking into the lung causing fibrosis (scaring) of the lung, resulting in a slow painful death for which there is no current cure.
Hopefully never! Asbestos is highly dangerous; if it's already in place (as insulation, for example), you'd be better off having a professional either encapsulate it or remove it so that the fibers don't become airborne. Definitely don't handle it yourself. And don't knowingly put it anywhere; mesothelioma is a cancer that's caused by the asbestos fibers, and is absolutely ugly.
