There is a Sigma "∑" buton available on the standard toolbar on the top of the Excel sheet or on the ribbon. It starts the SUM function in a cell, which will select cells to sum up and also allow you to change the selection. So it automatically sums values.

The auto sum button allows you to have a total sum of multiple cells with the sum being displayed at the last cell beneath the numbers you want to add.

To use the auto sum feature, click and hold your mouse button on the first number in a row or column you want to add, and then drag mouse through all the other numbers to be added. Make sure you drag at least one extra space to the bottom or side of the group to make room for the total.

Now click the auto sum button.

The sum of all selected cells will be inserted into the last selected cell.

You can add many extra blank cells to the formula which will automatically add any inserted numbers to the sum.
