2003 Jetta 5 speed manual 22K does 3900 RPMs at 80mph is this high or normal?

As far as I know yes its normal... I have an 03' also with a 1.8T in it and once I get past 80 or so that tach's way up over 4,000 rpm... was told by dealer that its because of the gear ratios :0) i have a 97 GLS 5 speed and at 69mhp my tach is at 3000, so yea, 3900 at 80 sounds good. go to autotech and get a new, lower 5th gear to drop it down....its a VW thing

Is there a Sacramento car repair course that I could attend?

Universal Technical Institute has a branch campus in Sacramento that offers an Automotive Technology program that gives you the training you need to become an entry level automotive technician. They also offer elective programs for specific makes of cars and an advance training program. You can see what they have to offer on their website (http://www.uti.edu/Home/Automotive/Training-Programs/Automotive). Also in Sacramento is American River College which has programs in Automotive Technology, Automotive Collision Technology and Diesel/Clean Diesel Technology which offer in class and hands on training and can lead to certification. You can view these program details at http://wserver.arc.losrios.edu/~autotech/programs.htm. A third option in Sacramento is WyoTech and you can view their multiple programs at http://www.wyotech.edu/campus/sacramento.
