People are collecting money to pay for rangers to scare away poachers.
People are trying to find jobs for the poor people who would otherwise be tempted to take up poaching to make some money.

∙ 13y agoParts of the white rhinoceros' habitat have been set aside for conservation. There are rangers, too, who try to protect them from poachers who hunt all rhinos for their ivory. I do not know for certain whether there are any captive breeding programs, although I believe that there are.

Yes, efforts are being made to protect rhinos. Wildlife reserves have been designated for rhinos, Rangers patrol areas with rhinos to catch poachers before they can strike, and it is illegal to kill rhinos, or sell their horns. However, it sat ill isn't enough. Sophisticated poachers still manage to evade Rangers and sell horns, and the reserves are not large enough to protect them from habitat loss.
