depending on what you are doing with it. the quad core is technically faster then the dual core. This has been a long debate between the computer industry especially when gamers get involved.

the only way a dual core or quad core CPU will be faster is if the software you are using is designed with multi-threading or can take advantage of the multiple cores the CPU has. A lot of new programs can do this, but not everything out there can. IMHO i would go with the quad core. I have 2 quad cores CPU and the programs that are not designed for it are just a hair slower. Nothing that will make you pull your hair out, but again this can be up for debate

Is Intel core 2 duo or AMD athlon x4 better?

The Athlon x4 will be better as it is a quad core compared to the Core 2 Duo's dual core technology. Should you wish to look at the Core 2 Quad, then the Core 2 Quad would be a better choice.

What is the difference between a dual quad-core processor and an eight-core processor?

I Would say nothing, except maybe the cores can split the load better in the 8 core. Can you provide a link to the dual quad core your looking at?

What is different between dual core2 and quad?

Dual core 2 is the 2nd version of the dual core processor and quad core is obviously 4 cores in a processor.

i3 is a dual core. The i7 model is a quad core processor.

What is the difference between Dual core CPU and Quad core CPU?

A dual core processor has two processing cores, whereas a quad core has four.

What is Intel Pentium on a laptop?

its the main processor normally at this time dual core or quad core. - It depends on the age of the product as to the mother board capabilities

Difference between a dual core and a core 2 quad?

The quad core is better. As its 4 cores, the workload is spread efficiently between them so it runs smoother. But the quad core is more expensive. The Intel Core 2 Duo processor was designed to meet the demand for increased performance from PC users. It can run multiple, intense software applications simultaneously.

I currently have an i5 dual core processor and I wish to upgrade it to a quad core i7 processor Can you upgrade a laptop with a dual core CPU to a quad core CPU?

Yes, but only if your laptop motherboard supports it (among other things) and you are experienced on upgrading. Note: However, it's possible that upgrading from i5 or i7 on the laptop can be counter productive or counter intuitive due to the fact that they don't play by the same "user friendly" rules as upgrading from a desktop - assuming you have a Mac!

What advantage do dual-core and quad-core precessors have over single-core precessors?

Dual-core processors use two cores for processing, they are capable of running more intensive programs, same are the quad-core processors(They use 4 cores for processing). In short,"THE HIGHER THE NUMBER OF CORES,THE BETTER IS THE PROCESSOR"

What features should a good gaming laptop have?

What is dual-quad core?

independent cores into a single package composed of a single IC. A dual-core processor contains two cores, and a quad-core processor contains four cores.
