That's a tough one, they are both gm's w/the same warranty. Styling (IMO) and rep slightly better on Buick brand and probably better int. since it is supposed to be luxury. This is the Skylark's replacement, the only problem is 6 cyl not an option and to get more power out of the 4 cyl, they are using a relatively new technology-direct injection. Be wary of any engine direct injected-because of extra high pressure required, many have reported all types of failures. The Malibu is more plain jane and bound to be cheaper but the 4 may feel a little underpowered even w/6 speed trans. The Malibu is avail w/ a 6 cyl. I would spend a little more and get the 6 if you can or consider an Impala as well.
