A 22 with a long barrel would probably be better because it should go straighter.
Caliber 22 Short, Long, Long Rifle.
None of them say. 22 short, long, or long rifle round barrel 12-A octagon barrel 12-C 22 short (octagon) 12-B 22 Remington Special (octagon) 12-CS
It takes either .22 long rifle, or .22 short. It's marked on the barrel.
Value of a 1980 Winchester rifle 22 short octagonal barrel?
Need a DETAILED description of ALL markings, barrel length, type of action.
Mine says. short-long & long rifle, right on the barrel.
Need to know who made it, how long the barrel is, exactly what 22 caliber it is (short, long, long rifle, etc.) and overall condition before being able to help with an answer.
The rifle will shoot .22lr .22 short, and .22 long. Only .22lr will cycle the action and load the next round. .22 Short and long will function as bolt action only.
What model? sales@countrygunsmith.net
580mm, or 22.83 inches. Rather long barrel for a .22 rifle.
It sounds like you have a model 1890 with a barrel from a model 1906, 61, or 62. The 1890s were chambered for 22 short, long, and long rifle, but if chambered for 22 short it could fire ONLY 22 short, etc. It can use all three lengths if the barrel is replaced with one from the newer models.
The model 31, as with most other firearms, will say on the barrel what ammo it can fire. Mine says (on the right side of the barrel) "Will fire any .22 Long, Long Rifle, or Short. High Speed Only."
