Both are fine.
Browning didnt make a 22 bolt action single shot. They made the T-Bolt and A-Bolt models in .22LR, but both had magazines. None were single shots.
A model 1904 is a single shot bolt action rifle.
Yes they are interchangeable. The 580 is a single shot bolt action and the 581 is a clip fed bolt action.

In short, no. I have a single shot lever action Ithaca rifle, and a turn action Garcia Bronco .22. There have been auto ejecting single shots, and a LOT of bolt action single shots. The "trapdoor" Springfield rifle was not a break action.
