It's a matter of personal preference and other factors. Cloth is generally less expensive and repairing it costs less, plus it's more resistant to holding the temperature... sit in leather seats after the car's been sitting in the sun, and you'll notice a difference real quick. Leather is more expensive, costs more to repair, and it is a bit higher maintenance if you want to keep it up, but also in some regards easier to clean.

There are a lot of products on the market for cleaning leather seats. But you can just as easily clean them with a moisturizing soap. The moisturizer in the soap keeps the leather soft and supple.
Warm soapy water and a soft cloth. Soap will break up the grease. Apply leather conditioner after throughly dry.
