Both are good, but I prefer guitar. If you are going to buy one, try out both to see which one you like better.

oopsy my last answer was way off. I did not get the question at forst. In my opinion a bass guitar is much better than an acoustic. But that is because I have had more fun on a bass.
if you are a beginner on the bass a good bass would be a squier affinity series jazz bass or precision bass. the jazz bass has a slimmer neck than the p bass but the p bass is a better bass for crunchy tone . i got the pbass.
