BIOS,as its name suggests it is the Basic Input Output System,it is used for loading all the inbuilt system programs(already stored in the ROM by system manufacturers) responsible for input and output operations that are to be performed subsequently after a PC or a system boot.
this can be done by booting into the bios when the device is first loading up (not the operating system loading screen)

BIOS is the program that manages the data between the operating system and all the input and output devices attached to the system, hence its name. BIOS is also responsible for loading the OS from its permanent location on the hard drive into RAM. 2. BIOS conducts a power-on self-test (POST) to check that all attached devices are in place and in working order. 3. BIOS loads the operating system from the hard drive to RAM. 4. The registry is checked for futher configurations and customizations. If everything has checked out and is loaded properly, the destop appears on the monitor, and the system is ready to accept your first command.
On power-up. You need to tap the escape key to stop the operating system loading, and enter the BIOS set-up screen.

the bios is not a physical thing, it is a piece of software that the computer uses to boot. to get to the bios, press the del key while your computer is booting, and before it gets to the windows loading screen If you are not familiar with building or troubleshooting computers it is best that you do not attempt to change anything in the bios, you could cause your computer to not turn on if you mess with the wrong thing.
ROM memory in a computer normally contains BIOS (Basic Input/Output System), which is the first program to run once a computer is switched on, before the operating system loads. It initializes and tests the system hardware. BIOS can be modified by flashing a new firmware, though it is not normally recommended.
