Chickens in most areas will reproduce in spring and summer, but those living in temperate regions can and will reproduce at any time of the year. They can sometimes also be induced to go "clucky" (broody) by increasing the light in their cage and leaving the eggs underneath them - but this only works with some individuals. It is not a tried and proven method.
In spring time when it's mating season.

To be more specific, a natural occurance is when all fresh things happen after the winter, and the year begins with seeds, blossoms and new animals.
BUT because we live in a world of technology, science can make this happen at any time.
As a normal season, farm animals arrive that way too. BUT because my dad's working schedule meant down time in the winter and early spring, our calving time was scheduled between Christmas and New Years.
So in this manner, you can adjust the birthing/hatching time to what works. In the industry of the chicks of many variety of birds, esp the kind that hit the markets, reproduction can happen any day you choose.
The more humans are involved in the process or being around the birds, the more the birds depend upon humans for existance.
Another variable that hinders the exact time is the exact location on the earth. Here in the upper midwest, we have 4 seasons. Other areas of the world have time zones that don't compare with us and have more growing seasons available.
Chickens usually mate throughout the year, but mostly in the spring and fall when the temperature is mild.
