Some Crown Victorias did not come with electronic trunk release buttons. But those that did, stowed the release button inside the glovebox door mounted to the dashboard inside. Open the glovebox door and it is mounted right inside on the left hand side on the dashboard, usually a bright yellow color.
That is in the fuse panel inside the car. Marked I/P illum (instrument panel illumination)
The dashboard is the main screen, there is no previous screen available. If you mean dashboard as when you press the middle button on your controller. This should not happen, but it may be just a crash.

Inside the "cab", on the passenger side, near where the floor meets the dashboard. Reach up and pull the carpet back to expose bare (anodized) metal around the reset button.

The sun bakes your dashboard and causes the chemicals in your dashboard to evaporate (hence the film you get on the inside of your windshield). This dries out the dashboard and causes it to crack or peel.
