Epilepsy.
Epilepsy comes from the Greek and means to seize, take hold of or attack.
They called it "Schutzhaft" - "protective custody". They were "protecting" the Jews (or whoever they were arresting if not Jews) from the wrath of the German people.
That is called photosensitive epilepsy. It is a form of epilepsy in which seizures are triggered by visual stimuli such as flashing lights.
