Circumcision is the surgical removal of the foreskin (prepuce) from the human penis. In the procedure the foreskin is opened and then separated from the glans.

This is done by placing a cup like device (if used) is placed over the glans (the head of the penis, and then the foreskin is pulled over the cup like device and tied shut. Once the foreskin is tied shut the skin at the base of the cup like device is removed. Topical or locally injected anesthesia may be used to reduce pain and stress. And the skin is cut away at the base of the device.

How is a circumsion actually performed?

It can be performed a variety of ways, from using a scalpel or surgical scissors. As well, a clamp can be used. At one point, doctors experimented with burning the foreskin off but was quickly discontinued after accidents leading to penis amputations. As with any surgery, there is danger of death and disfigurement.

Do Baptists get a middle name after being baptized?

No. For Baptsts, baptism and naming are not related. Baptism is an outward sign of a change that has taken place in the the heart. The Jews would name a male baby at circumsion at eight days old, and there are conceptual links between circumcision of the flesh under the law and the change that takes place in the heart of a believer, but it is a mistake to make baptism the replacement for circumcision.

Why does every boy has to get circumcision?

Infant circumcision is not covered by national health care in places like the United Kingdom and Canada. Infant circumsion is also not covered by most health insurances in the United States. Not every boys has to have circumcision. There are only a few medical conditions where circumcision may be necessary. The majority of circumcisions are done for religious and/or customary reasons. There are recent studies/reports showing circumcised males have lower incidence certain sexually transmitted infections . There is also a slight lower incidence of penile cancer, which is already a very rare cancer by itself. There is also fewer urinary tract infections during the first year. You may say what can be so bad with all the benefit described so far. Well, all procedures carry risks. Unintended adverse outcomes will happen to some. Some will say if you're born with it, why remove it. The American Academy of Pediatricians still does not recommend routine circumcision for all boys. They leave it to the parents to decide after providing the pro's and con's.

Is it normal for a circumcised newborn baby to still have foreskin covering his penis head?

No, this is not normal. This is a condition known as "skin bridges". Skin bridges are a common problem hat can happen after circumcision. When the skin tries to heal after circumcision, sometimes it makes a mistake. It grows too much and forms an abnormal skin connection (bridge) between the shaft and the penis head. If you or your child has one or more skin bridges, it is important to see the doctor who performed the circumsion as soon as possible. Skin bridges can be easily fixed. However, it is important to go to the doctor very soon because skin bridges can continue to grow and get worse.

Review the related literature of a circumcision?

Circumcision has no known medical benefits, and no major medical association recommends routine infant circumcision. Circumcision caries with it serious risks of adverse outcomes including prolonged bleeding, infection, severe pain, and surgical error that can result in damage to the penis. For these reasons most physicians recommend against circumcision. An uncircumcised penis requires no care until the boy can retract the foreskin, usually by age 4. He should simply wash the head of the penis with soap and water during his regular bath or shower just like any other part of the body. If you wish to have your newborn circumcised without anesthesia, it will cost $400-$500 (U.S. dollars). The cost depends on where you live. Infant circumcision is not covered by national health care in places like the United Kingdom and Canada. Infant circumsion is also not covered by most health insurances in the United States. While most infant circumcisions do not have serious complications, there are risks to the procedure, including pain, bleeding, and infection. Every year in the United States, there are a numbers of deaths due to infant circumcision, most of which result from infection or blood disorders. There are also a significant number of irreversible injuries to the penis that occur during circumcision each year. Circumcision is far less common now in the United States than it once was. During the 1970s and 1980, around 80% of male infants were circumcised in the United States. A study conducted in the United States from 2005-2007 found that circumcision rates had fallen to below 40% in most of the United States. In the western United States, fewer than 25% of infant males were circumcised in 2005-2007. Circumcision can have long lasting consequences. Circumcision removes a normal part of the penis that functions to protect the glans of the penis. Removal of the foreskin can cause decreased sensitivity of the penis and decreased pleasure during sexual intercourse. This is yet another reason why circumcision is becoming increasingly uncommon.

Does circumsition hurt when your an adult?

AnswerYes! It is possible for circumcision to be extremely painful, not only for adults but also for children and infants. When circumcision is performed on an adult, local anaesthetic is given which numbs the penis. This wears off a few hours after the circumcision. At this point, the penis may be extremely sore. Bleeding, severe pain and infection are common following circumcisions. Painkillers in tablet-form are given after circumcision, but have little effect. The pain may continue for weeks following the procedure. Erections that occur following circumsion can be extremely painful.Circumcision was usually performed on infants without anesthetic in the US, but now their doctors use mild pain suppressents which do virtually nothing to relieve the boy's pain. They are invariably awake and able to feel the foreskin being removed. They are also prone to infections, bleeding, and pain following circumcision.Adult circumcision is performed under local or general anaesthetic in the UK. A local anaesthetic (two injections in the base of the penis) numbs the penis totally and has none of the risks of general anaesthesia. The pain afterwards is intense while healing takes place, not to mention infected sutures and stuck bandaging which has to removed and replaced. Nocturnal erections and pain when the wound is healing is traumatic. Also, the permanently exposed glans is extremely sensitive at first - very like the sensation we get from hitting our humerus (funny bone). Eventually the glans is denuded of sensation as the months and years go by... and it grows a toughened cover of tissue in an attempt to protect it - as its foreskin once did.AnswerThe surgery itself is painless of course because of the anesthetic (you only feel pressure), but once it wears off it might start to hurt. "Severe pain" and "extremely painful" aren't what I experienced however. Anything else than lying and yes, it can be painful, but while lying down and with comfortable trousers there's no problem. That also wore off after a week anyway. The pain is greatly exaggerated by many , its no worse than getting a tooth out and having had it done at 24 I should know. Would suggest Muslim doctors -- they are excellent at this proceedure.
