In science, a theory is something that is not fully proven, but has strong supporting evidence.

Some common theories that are well known, and seen by most people as fact include; Evolution, Plate Tectonics, and Gravity.

All three of these have enough evidence to be scientifically sound, but we have not yet given 100% proof to turn them from scientific theory into scientific law.
