Yes, they are interchangeable, but if you plan to put a 95 motor in a 92, do not do it. The 7bolt motors experience crankwalk, which is bad. But if you're putting a 92 motor in a 95, go for it! I just finished putting a 91 motor in my 95. It's quite a bit of work, and you have to know what you're doing. There are plenty of guides out there for a 6bolt swap.

What year? Those cars are prone to ECU failures; find out if it has ever been replaced or remanufactured. Also, the 2.0 liter engine is prone to a condition called 'crankwalk', google that and read up on it. If it's a AWD car, there was a recall for the transfer case or rear axle due to it leaking fluid and locking up during driving (or something like that)...look up vehicle recalls on the NHTSA.gov website.
1998 eclipse crankshaft positioning sensor location?
i am going through this problem with my eclipse.i have a 98 eclipse gst turbo and the dreaded crankwalk happened. well i ordered what i thought was the correct motor that would fit in . a 99 gst motor. well it is suppose to be a 99 gst motor. on the 98 motor the censor is located right behind the harmonic balancer. it has 2 bolts going into the motor and 3 wires. the wires come out on the back side of the motor close to the firewall. now i cant find out what year my motor i just bought is because everyone and there momma is telling me the censor is in the exact place as a 98. well people i got screwed it sounds like.
