It's either a straight 6 (6 cylinder) or a V8 (8 cylinder). The V8 has a V8 emblem on the rear hatch. The V8 is numbered : pass side 2-4-6-8 Driver side 1-3-5-7
No Jeep Wranglers were ever equipped with a V8 from the factory. They all had either a 4 cylinder or 6 cylinder engine. The CJ was equipped with a V8 but not the Wrangler.
