CFC contains chlorine and chlorine reacts with oxygen to form chlorine monoxide and as you may know, the ozone layer is made up of 3 particles of oxygen. When chlorine reacts with oxygen, it takes away 1 particle of oxygen and turns ozones into pure oxygen (O2). This will sink back down into the troposphere and therefore, depleting the ozon layer.
