Best Answer

Digital data transmission use voltage differences to directly represent the 1s and 0s that make up the data and are not modulated over a carrier.

What is often meant by the term 'data transmission'?

A transfer of data from point-to-point is simplified as data transmission. Data transmission can be referred to as digital communication but can include analog data transmission as well.

it means that you digitize analog data for transmission . Like 2 computer that chatting .

What is a set of standards for digital transmission of data over standard copper telephone lines?

The set of standards for digital transmission of data over standard copper telephone lines is ISDN

What type of data transmission occurs in a computer bus?

A digital data transmission occurs in a computer bus. The data are in the form of electromagnetic signal, such as an electrical voltage, microwave, radiowave, or infrared signal.

What is data cable?

Just as electric cable transmits electric line power from the transmission center to receiving station so the data cable in digital communication transmits the encoded binary digits from a digital transmission system to a digital receiving system.

Why would digital data have to be modulated onto an analog signal?

For transmission through a radiowave.

What is the difference between analog and digital data transmission?

This is essentially the same question as the difference between analog and digital. With analog electronics a voltage is used to represent (or to be an analogy for) some physical attribute in the real world. So for an analog transmission, at its simplest, a sound signal (say) is converted to a voltage, the voltage sent down a cable, then at the other end the voltage converted back into sound with a loudspeaker. With a digital system, the physicial attribute is measured and sent as a series of numbers, the numbers being converted to binary. For a digital transmission, the sound signal is converted to a series of numbers, sent as binary, and converted back to a sound signal at the other end. The advantages of digital is that it makes multiplexing much easier - making it easier to put many signals down the same physical cable. It also makes compressing the signal much easier - this is particularly effective for digital television transmission; 30-40 digital channels can be sent over the same bandwidth as 4 or 5 uncompressed analog channels. Also, digital is much more resiliant against noise - the digital receiver has to make a decision about each bit - is it there or not; noise can be pretty extreme before this becomes impossible, with analog, once noise is added its very difficult to remove it. The historical disadvantage of digital is that digital encoding and decoding equipment was expensive compared with the analog. Over the last 10 years or so, digital electronics has become much cheaper and more powerful.

WHAT is ASCII and its connection with digital data transmission?

ASCII,means american stander code for information intercharge

Advantages and disadvantages of digital transmission?

1. The signal is exact. For example, Digital formats like PCM (Pulse Code Modulation) can hold the exact digital format of sounds.2. Digital signals can checked for errors. Generally, all digital transmission methods use 'head labels' to provide better checking facilities. Head label may contain how many packets may need to complete the transmission, what is the sequence number of each packet of data, acknowledgment labels etc.3. A variety of services can afford over one line. For example, IpTV connection can used to watch cable TV channels while browsing the Internet through a PC using same line. This line can also used to make a phone call at the same time.4. Digital data can be compressed and therefore possible to pass over higher bandwidths. Any digital data; data, image, video, voice can be compressed.5. More secure. Digital data can be encrypt using an encryption method. Only the dedicated receiver can decode the message.6. Supports data integrity. Simple to integrate voice, video and data. Digital transmission provides easier way to integrate different digital formats.7. Digital transmission provides higher maximum transmission rates via medium such as optical fibers. Typically, digital transmissions use less bandwidth.Disadvantages::::::::1) digital equipment costs more and is much more complex.by Abdullahcu-516-Acecos university
