Dragon Springs is home to several Tang dynasty temples, buildings, and other structures. It is also headquarters to Shen Yun Performing Arts, Feitian College, and Feitian Academy of the Arts. Residents of Dragon Springs practice the meditation discipline Falun Gong. It has brought numerous health benefits to its practitioners and now has millions of adherents around the world. In 1992, there were some 100 million people practicing Falun Gong in China. But the Chinese Communist Party, which does not tolerate religious freedom, feared the sheer number of people practicing Falun Gong and began persecuting them in 1999. From then on, these peaceful people have been arrested, sent to labor camps, raped, tortured, and killed for their belief. This persecution still goes on in China today. Many people living on the grounds are victims of the persecution of Falun Gong. In the interest of their security, the grounds are fenced off and few public visits are allowed.
