Drive A or Drive B as the hard disk was usually Drive C
A drive letter
drive letter of an USB drive can be any letter from E to Z, It also can be D if you don't have DVD drive connected to the computer &C is the hard-disk drive needed for the Windows. It depends on the hard disk partition you had made.
The default identity letter for the internal drive of a computer - is C.
After the USB drive has been inserted, it will be assigned a drive letter. From this point, you would open the CMD prompt and type: FORMAT F: (enter) Be sure to replace F: with the thumb drive's drive letter which is assigned by your operating system. If you format the wrong drive letter, you will lose all the data stored on that drive letter.
Mislabeling. Drive letter is not visible, drive letter is changed to question mark, or partition properties or label are not accurate.
The drive that the OS is installed on
if the drive formatted? check drive properties (right click on new drive), and see if it has a file system on it. FAT/FAT32/NTFS if not right click drive again and click format quick is ok if it is a new drive, if not just click start should have a letter after format and a restart.
Floppy Drives are normally A or B. But you can designate any letter you wish. It is up to you.
The computer's primary optical drive is traditionally designated as the D drive.
