Loaka is a general term that can mean anything from meat, fish, eggs, or vegetables, to just broth. One popular loaka is ravitoto sy henakisoa(ground manioc leaves with pork). Another is ro mazava (stew with green leafy vegetables). Sakay, served on the side, is a mixture of chili peppers, ginger, and garlic. Served at the end of the meal is ranomapango, which is a drink made from water boiled in the browned rice that sticks to the bottom of the pan after cooking. Dessert is often whatever fruit is in season, including mangoes, pineapples, papaya, guava, and Oranges. Bananas are eaten year-round, either fresh or fried in batter.
