Echo was a talkative nymph, who helped out Zeus when he was having an affair by distracting his wife Hera. When Hera found out what she was doing, she made it so that Echo could only say the last words of whoever spoke before her, never speaking a word of her own. Echo fell in love with Narcissus, a very vain but handsome man who fell in love with himself and died looking at his reflection. The narcissus flower grew from where he died. Echo pined away, slowly disappearing until all that was left was her voice, which echoed whatever someone said.
