Smoking is one of those wonderful things that nobody can agree on. I am personally not a smoker, however smoking is alright if it doesnt disturb others. When one is in a designated smoking section, the non-smokers can avoid you, in which case they are not being harmed and have no right to dictate how you run your own life. Furthermore, if a person wants to inhale toxic gases, that is their right, just like the non-smoker has the right to a place with clean air. Smokers are not demanding that non-smokers should smoke, so what gives non-smokers the right to prohibit smokers?
Will putting cigarettes in the fridge keep them fresh?
Yes it will. Most occasional smokers will place their carton or pack into the fridge or freezer. Avid smokers don't bother cause they smoke so often the carton or pack won't go stale before they need a new carton.

Most employers would suggest to you not to bring any valuables to the workplace, however, I good employer who cares for their employees will provide lockers for their employee's. The downside to having a personal storage space provided by the employer is that they have a right to search the locker IF circumstances require it.
