With the help of seismograph you can find arrival time of secondary wave and primary wave. The difference in time in seconds multiplied by 8 will give you the distance of focus the starting point of earthquake. Even though the speed of these waves differs according the geographical condition the difference in speed is almost constant and it is 8 k/m per second. Therefore you can draw a circle from that station .The focus point should be some where on the circumference of the circle. When you get the data from other seismic station you can draw another circle from that station that will cut the previous circle in two points .One among the two point must be the focus point. When you draw the circle in the same way from third station this will pass through one among the two meeting point of the previous circles. This point is focus. The imaginary point just above focus on earth is the epicenter. To have clear idea about this visit my slide show .I have also found a new method to find the epicenter from single station using my direction finder to gether with seismograph. It is approximate quite enough to issue Tsunami warning. I have issued the warning 2 hours before Tsunami struck our Indian coast but it was ignored. My web site . please be patient to down load .
The focus is the point underground where the earthquake rupture started, and the epicenter is the point on the ground directly above the focus.
The epicenter is the spot on Earth that an earthquake occurred. The epicenter lines up with the focus, which is the spot under the Earth where the earthquake occurred.
They tried to find the epicenter of the earthquake.
First point to feal earthquake.
the focus is located under the epicenter. It is the origin of the earthquake. The epicenter is right above the focus.
Hello
It is called the focus, and the point on Earth's surface located directly above the earthquake focus is called the epicenter of the earthquake.
At many different earthquake centers. When an earthquake happens the tree nearest earthquake centers record the magnitude and intensity of the seismic waves produced by the earthquake in order to find the origin or epicenter
Triangulation. First, they calculate the time between the first and second - primary and secondary - seismic waves created in an earthquake and use this information to determine how far the seismometer is from the epicenter of the earthquake. A circle is drawn around the seismometer so that it is in the center and the radius is equal to the calculated distance. Using this information from three different seismometers, two more circles are drawn and the intersecting point of the three circles is where the epicenter of the earthquake is located.
The epicenter is the surface located right above the focus, which is the center of an earthquake.
An earthquake's Focus is located directly under the Epicenter of an earthquake. The Epicenterof an earthquake is located on the surface of the earthquake.
Epicenter.
the focus is located under the epicenter. It is the origin of the earthquake. The epicenter is right above the focus.
False, the focus is located deep underground. The epicenter is at ground level
Located in the Atlantic Ocean.
Hello
it is directly above the focus
it is directly above the focus
The epicenter of the 1985 Mexico City Earthquake was located on the Cocos Plate subduction zone (18.35, -102.39).
3 hours
the epicenter was located in the paciffic ocean, near the north east coast of the japense island of honshu.
