faro
The spelling of an ancient Egyptian king is "pharaoh." The card game is spelled "faro" (originally the same name, from the same source).
Faro was once a very popular card game that is now rarely seen in casinos. Faro (or it can be spelled Pharo, Pharaon, or Pharaoh) works by playing bets on the 13 cards from Ace to Kings (ignoring the suit), guessing which the dealer will deal from a full deck. The first card dealt is the 'loser', and the second dealt is the 'winner'. Any player who bet on the same number card as drawn by the dealer wins. A new hand starts from scratch every time.
