5 ms is faster. The response time is the amount of time a pixel in an LCD monitor takes to go from active (black) to inactive (white) and back to active (black) again. It is measured in milliseconds (ms). Lower numbers mean faster transitions and therefore fewer visible image artifacts. (from Wikipedia).

What is a good lcd monitor to use with a desktop computer?

No matter the brand, you will want something with a high refresh rate. You will want to find something with a rate of 8ms or below. If you want something really nice, a 2-4 ms refresh rate is very good.

Who is faster 2ms or 5ms?

2ms. "ms" means mili-seconds. To uncomplicate the issue, simply drop the "ms" and ask yourself is 2 seconds faster than 5 seconds ... yes, 2 seconds is faster.

How does ms response time affect picture quality on lcd or plasma televisions?

ms stands for milliseconds and the smaller the number the better, especially if you watch a lot of sports and fast action movies. This is usually not a problem with regular TV shows or movies. A response time of 5 ms or less is most desired in a TV. 3 or less is best. A plasma TV usually has the fastest response time, but there are LCD's that are comparable.

Im looking at two TV's one with a 4 ms response time and another with a 2 ms response time. Is a fast response time important when buying a LCD TV?

I copied this response to a similar question answered by 'A well lit garden' on Yahoo Answers. "4 ms LCD response times do help in controlling jitter. If you like watching sports, action movies or gaming on your TV, the extra $150.00 is well worth it. Additional Notes: LCD TVs use a technique called sample & hold. They display a frame (sample) and then hold that frame until the next frame is updated to the screen. They do NOT allow the image to deacy between frames. It's because LCD images do NOT decay that you get motion blur on an LCD TV. Sample & Hold is unique to LCD TVs. All other TV technologies allow the image to decay between frames and, therefore, do not have motion blur and jitter. Jitter, the shaky edges of fast moving images is directly related to LCD response times. The faster the LCD response time, the less jitter you see. 4ms response times do make a difference in the amount of jitter one sees on an LCD TV (regardless of the TV manufacturer)." _____________ I'm sorry, I didn't feel that you got a 100% satisfactory response. To make a long answer a simple one, the lower the response time, the better it is for you. 4ms is better than 8ms, and 2ms is better than 4ms. I'm sure we're all wishing for the day when we can find a TV with a 0ms response time! -13
