You have a 44 cal fllipietta you lost every thing but the gun im not sure if it takes 454 or the451 lead round ball?

If your .44 cal is a ball and caprevolver, you can use the .454, even if .451 is the perfect size. A ball and cap revolver press fits the ball into the charge hole in the cylinder. The lead balls are very soft lead, and will shave a small ring of lead from over-sized bullets. In effect, it shapes the bullet to the bore of the cylinder each time one is loaded. A bullet that is too SMALL is dangerous, and it can result in the flash from one charge firing jumping over to the next charge- a very BAD condition knows as "chain fire". Many good reloading manuals have a section dealing with muzzle loading firearms. By the way, search for a mnaual under "F LLI PIETTA".
