Flocculation is one step in the water and wastewater treatment process. In a flocculation tank, the water is stirred or otherwise moved around so that the particles move around, bump into other particles, and stick to one another. Eventually the small and difficult to remove particles in the water form large clumps which can then be easily removed. Chemicals (most commonly "alum") are often added to the water going into a flocculation tank to help aid particle formation.

How do you kill green pool water?

Chlorine and Algaecide, and flocculate then when the algae is dead vacuum it to waste from the bottom of the pool. ( Follow the instructions on the containers)

What is a flocculation limit?

The limit flocculation is the amount of an antibody (measured in international units) which equilibrates the antigen present such that the antigen-antibody complexes precipitate (flocculate : asexual aggregation of microorganisms.).

How do air dusters work?

Air dusters compress air and make the dust flocculate. The process of flocculation is what makes the amount of dust particles in the air decrease; but infact, it just brings them together, just like H2 and O.

Your water is clear but some kind of scum keeps settling to the bottom even after vacuuming?

This sounds like flocculate, or clarifier, The next time you vacuum the pool gently vacuum the scum at the bottom to waste, Do not put it through the filter. you will lose a bit of water but it should top the problem from recurring if I am right.

Buying a home with an inground pool The water is very very green. You can not see the bottom. It has a new pump and liner could there be a broken pipe under the pool?

It sounds like A bad case of green algae. First try to kill it of with an algaecide follow the instructions If that is taking too long you may have to flocculate the water and then vacuum the algae to waste.

What are the components of gypson used for softening the soil?

Gypsum is composed of calcium and sulfur, which work together to enhance soil structure and improve water infiltration. When applied to soil, gypsum helps to flocculate clay particles, reducing compaction and improving aeration. It also provides a source of calcium for plant nutrition and helps to loosen heavy clay soils.

What is the difference between biosurfactant and bioflocculants?

Biosurfactants are surface-active agents that reduce surface tension, while bioflocculants are substances that cause particles to clump together and settle. Biosurfactants help in emulsification and dispersion while bioflocculants aid in sedimentation and removal of suspended particles in water treatment processes. Both play important roles in environmental applications such as wastewater treatment and bioremediation.

Is it ok to prime the pump with the filter running briefly so you can vacuum the waste after letting flocculate settle in the water for 12 hours or so?

I had to look up the word flocculate, it said to clump or mass togeather, yes just long enough to get the water going thru the filter with clumps or masses getting or blocking the strainer basket you have to shut the filter and clean the strainer basket out, put the strainer basket back in put water back in the strainer basket area, close or put the lid back on and turn the filter back on, you may get the filter running strong the first time but as the filter sand becomes more clogged or dirty, it may take several times of priming the pump to get good water flow,,as I read your question, again you have to shut the pump off which in turn stops the filtering process, you have to put water back into the inlet side to get the flow back this should take maybe 20 seconds if you run the pump to long you will burn the motor up In order to prime the pump it will have to be off. What process uses chemicals to make suspensions separate faster?

Flocculation is one process used in water supply processing, in which lime is added to flocculate minute clays from the liquid. Once flocculated, they are then easily filtered out. In this process, the mixed substance (the clays) are joined mechanically to the lime.In general precipitation is the technique of making a solute to separate from a solution. This is usually a straight chemical reaction in which one of the resultant chemicals is no longer soluble.Electro plating is also a separation process, driven in this case by electric charge.

How do you make a cloudy green in ground pool clean again?

First of all increase the chlorine to the max Then add algaecide and scrub the sides and bottom of the pool with a stiff brush, this will loosen of the algae that is growing on the pool surfaces. Let the water circulate for a while cast a flocculate over the surface of the pool. turn the pump of for two days and set the filter to waste. after two days you will note that the water has cleared up and there is a layer of sludge at the bottom of the pool. Gently vacuum this to waste ( do not try to filter it) when its all gone set the system to filter and top up the pool. repeat if necessary.

What is the use of polymer in sewage treatment?

Polymer is a coagulent that is added to a flow to help separate out components, typically solids from liquids. In dewatering it assists with centrifuging sludge, and in filtering water assists with controlling turbidity.
